Learning about food and nutrition is a vital part of education at the Polygon School.
The school has a great learning environment for this subject including individual work stations for the practical lessons.
During KS3 the boys have one lesson per week and participate in the ‘Licence to Cook’ programme which develops a range of skill including:
Pupils will cook on alternate weeks and are encouraged to take home the results.
As a school we believe in removing barriers, therefore, no charge is made for cooking ingredients.
At KS4 the boys have two lessons per week, one a theory and one practical. All pupils in KS4 are entered for the Ncfe Vcert Level 1 in Food and Nutrition. This is a vocational qualification and is focused on practical assessment.
