Impact

 

We would like to let you know about an opportunity for your foster child to be involved with a new project for children in foster care aged 5 – 12 years run by Youth Options.

 

The project is called ‘Impact’  and is a 3 year project funded by Children in Need. The project aims to provide somewhere that children in care can feel accepted and build friendships with other children in a similar situation, whilst taking part in activities that aim to build their confidence and increase social skills.

 

Impact will run one session a week after school in both the East and West of Southampton as well as activity days in the school holidays. The times and locations are as follows:

The after school sessions will be based on current or issue-based topics, for example, child safety week, world music day and national marine week. They will include art and craft, cooking, practical life skills, drama and music, help with homework, sporting activities and games, as well as a range of outdoor activities. The activity days in the holiday will give the children opportunities to visit local attractions and take part in activities such as swimming, den building and treasure hunts.
