We are seeking Learning Support Assistants at The Polygon Specialist School

(32.5 hours per week, term time only. 08.30-15.30 hours)

 

**3 x Roles Available** | Start Date: 01-09-2023

 

Location: Southampton

  • Are you able to work successfully with boys who have complex neurodevelopment disorders such as ADHD / FASD / PDA / PTSD / ODD /Sp.LD / ASD or developmental delay?
  • Can you keep your head in a crisis?
  • Could you organise and participate a sporting activity for 30 boys and young men, perhaps at a moment’s notice
  • Do you have creative or sporting skills which would be of interest to adolescent boys?
  • Do you know how to offer discrete learning support within a classroom environment?
  • Can you empathise with chronic social difficulties, and yet keep firm professional boundaries?

The Polygon School is a specialist school that supports, educates and helps to make a difference to the lives of 72 young men with social, emotional and mental health issues. This post will be working alongside a class teacher for most of the school day, but will also allow for a specific interest / skills to be developed as an Engagement activity for those who have become disaffected with learning.

 

The post is offered on a six month contract in the first instance, and is subject to annual review. It may be of interest to a new graduate who is considering a career in education, or to an experienced person looking for an interesting career change.

 

The work will involve working alongside children throughout the school day, to ensure that they can participate in all learning situations and in the wider life of the school, including “after school” clubs each day.

 

There will be a requirement to uphold all safeguarding procedures and school internal recording processes, to participate in multi-agency meeting, and to make written reports to a good standard of English.

 

The post will be for 32.5 hours per week, term time only. Occasional overtime hours by negotiation.

 

Salary Grade: 6 / Scale Point 12 £24,684 FTE (Actual Salary £18,638 pro rata´d, depending upon qualifications and experience.)

 

Working hours: between 8.30 and 15.30 Monday to Friday, during school term dates.

 

Starting date: 17-04-2023.

Parent Governor vacancies

We are seeking two Parent Governors to join our team of school governors.

It is a great opportunity to get more involved in the school community, to see how the school works from the inside, and to build a stronger understanding of your child’s educational experience.
