Olympic Week at The Polygon

Between the 8th and the 12th July, The Polygon celebrated an Olympic Week.

Following on from the success of the cross curricular Lion King themed week school embarked on another international themed week.  Using 2024 as an Olympic year, subjects across the school have changed and adjusted their curriculums to include links to all aspects of the Olympic movement.  This was done to celebrate all that sport has to offer and also to show how all subjects can incorporate the Olympic ideals to allow pupils to experience success.

All of this has been under pinned by the values of the Modern Olympics; Excellence, Respect and Friendship. Regardless of the year or the situation, these are ideals we would love to see our pupils demonstrating in their day to day lives.

With a notice board in the making to celebrate the best of each subject across the week, highlights across the whole school included; the Olympic breakfasts with Miss Brobson and Miss Long in Food Tech, Reaction Time Testing with Mr Gillo in Science, the Olympic Story Writing competition with Miss Ifould and Miss Ross-Barton, work on the IOC Olympic Refugee team in PSHE with Mrs Foster and the Polygon Pentathlon with Mr Atkinson and Mr Raphael in PE.

During the week we also had the opportunity to celebrate the annual whole school Swim Gala, with teamwork and sportsmanship in full flow.

Watch this space for more sports news, as the teams and managers have been announced for The Polygon Olympics which take place on 16th and 18th July.
